Public demo and privacy

How the Ask AI demo on this site works and what happens to your questions.

The demo uses free models

The Ask AI panel on this site runs on OpenRouter free models (openrouter/free) through Glossen's own server-side key. You don't need to sign in or bring a key.

What happens to your questions

When you ask a question in the demo, your question, any passages you attached, the page you asked from and the full Glossen documentation are sent to OpenRouter, which forwards them to whichever free-model provider serves the request.

Provider data practices vary. Some providers that serve free models may retain prompts or use them for training. Because openrouter/free picks a model per request, the provider can change between questions. See OpenRouter's privacy and logging documentation and its privacy policy.

Don't submit secrets, credentials or personal information in the demo.

Your conversations are saved only in your own browser. Glossen doesn't store them on a server.

Demo limits

To keep the demo available, it has limits that installed copies don't have:

  • requests larger than 512 KB are rejected with a message; nothing is truncated;
  • each answer is capped at 4,096 output tokens and is labelled when it stops at that limit;
  • free models have shared daily request limits, so the demo can be slow or temporarily unavailable.

Your own installation

When you install Glossen, the chat route runs in your app with your provider key and your chosen model. None of the demo's limits apply, and requests never pass through Glossen's servers.
